When legally blind artist, Yvonne Felix, saw her husband’s face for the first time, he looked younger than she had imagined.  She also saw for the first time the person her six-year-old son had grown into and the huge smile that sparkled from her eight-month-old son’s face.

“There are no words that can describe the feeling of being able to see my boys for the first time,” shares Yvonne. “To actually see the faces that go with their unique little personalities was amazing.”

A gift that keeps on giving

“It’s one thing to hear emotion in someone’s voice, but it’s so much more compelling when you hear and see it for yourself.”

This miracle was made possible by a new breakthrough technology, eSight Eyewear that incorporates a high-resolution video camera, a sophisticated image processing computer and powerful LED displays to provide electronically enhanced vision to the legally blind.

Last December, Yvonne made sure her eSight Eyewear was right beside her bed for Christmas morning.  “It was incredible to see my son Noah’s face light up when he saw what Santa had brought him.  His facial expressions were unbelievable.”  With eSight she has been able to enjoy watching her kids play in the park, reading herself to sleep and creating artwork.  “Perhaps the most rewarding thing has been being able to say “yes” to job opportunities I wouldn’t have been able to accept previously,” she says.  But the biggest change has been in reading facial expressions. “It’s one thing to hear emotion in someone’s voice, but it’s so much more compelling when you hear and see it for yourself.”
